NEAR OSSEO, Wis. - A western Wisconsin man is in custody after the State Patrol said he drove his car the wrong way on I-94 while drunk and crashed early Tuesday.
Troopers received a call of a vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-94 near Osseo, Wisconsin around 1:54 a.m. Just 4 minutes later they responded to the scene of a crash.
The 46-year-old suspect had collided with a westbound semi truck driven by an Illinois man, careened off the roadway and into the median. Crews extricated him from the 1996 Chevy Corsica and took the suspect to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He was later arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and failure to wear a seatbelt.
