MINNEAPOLIS - If you've seen the new iPhone 5, you know it's a lot different than any iPhone before.
Not only is it faster and better, it's also bigger, which means any accessories you have for a old iPhone won't fit the new one.
But there are lots of options for the updated model, and we talked with the experts at Best Buy to check them all out.
"Accessories make the most of your iPhone 5," said Alex Meyer, from Best Buy mobile sales. "From cases, screen protection, music and media, and also charging solutions, you'll find you get the best options and accessories for the iphone 5."
One big change in the iPhone 5 is the connector. It's now 80 percent smaller than the previous model, and Apple is calling it the lightning connector. That means you'll need to update your car chargers and portable batteries to fit the new port.
Meyer says the most important accessory you can buy is a case to protect the phone's fragile glass screen from cracks and scratches. One they recommend is the slider case, which is the signature design of Incase. It has a hard plastic shell and internal guardrail to prevent damage, yet it's still among the thinnest on the market.
Mobile device experts also say you should have a screen protector. That helps make your phone shock resistant and prevent scratches and cracks, especially if you drop your phone. Best Buy sells one called the Zagg Invisible Shield Extreme, which is made from the same material the military used to protect its helicopter blades from debris.
Along with the functional, there are also fun accessories, including earbuds, headphones and speakers. Jambox offers wireless speakers that work through the iPhone's Bluetooth, and they're also small and portable.
"An iPhone launch comes once a year," Meyer said. "It's like Christmas around here!"
