ST. PAUL, Minn. - A multi-vehicle pileup completely closed westbound I-694 near Rice Street for hours beginning late Wednesday and lasting through the early afternon.
The crash left four people injured, one critically, and backed traffic up for miles.
Both westbound lanes were shut down as first responders tended to the drivers and their damaged vehicles. MnDOT cameras also showed a significant backup in the eastbound lanes due to a gawker slowdown.
The State Patrol website says three vehicles were involved in the crash. A Chevy Avalanche rear-ended a Ford Taurus at a high rate of speed, pushing it into a Toyota Prius.
Four of the injuries came from those riding in the Taurus.
