BLOOMINGTON - The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to open the flyover ramp from eastbound Interstate 494 to southbound Highway 169 late Thursday. Drivers in the area should watch for overnight lane closures. MnDOT had initially hoped to open the ramp earlier in the week.
It will be the first of several ramps at the I-494/Hwy 169 interchange to open in the coming weeks as the project begins to wrap up.
The flyover ramp from westbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 169 is expected to open the week of October 8. The new ramp from Marth Road to eastbound I-494 is scheduled to open near the end of the month.
Even though several ramps are opening soon, crews will have to shut down the loop ramp from northbound Hwy 169 to westbound I-494 later this month for about three weeks so crews can reconstruct it.
The new I-494/Hwy 169 interchange is designed to remove traffic signals, reduce congestion and improve safety.
