EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The victim of Monday's early morning apartment fire in Eau Claire, Wis. has been identified.
Twenty-one-year-old Ross A. Livermore of Stillwater was pronounced dead at the hospital after being transported via ambulance. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday.
The second victim, 22-year-old Jacob Clarkson, is at the Hennepin County Medical Center with serious burns.
Around 6 a.m. Monday morning, an off-duty Eau Claire police detective witnessed flames coming from an apartment on the 600 block of Water Street.
Due to the progression of the fire, initial police officers on scene could not enter the apartment.
Upon entering the residence fire personnel located two unconscious individuals. Two other male residents were able to escape the fire.
The two male residents that escaped the fire Garrett Isakson and Casey Malan, both 21, were treated at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire and released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
