COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - There is no doubt St. John's University football coach John Gagliardi is not used to losing.

After all, the 85-year-old coaching legend has come out on top in 486 career games, leaving him just 14 short of the defining 500 win mark.

But contrary to a report published in a Twin Cities newspaper Friday Gagliardi insists the struggles of his team this year do not have him thinking of retirement at this moment. The coach maintains the only thing on his mind is Saturday's game against Carleton.

Gagliardi told KARE 11 in a phone interview that the newspaper interview lasted longer than he was told it would, and insists he was misled on what the interview would be about. The coach says he has mulled over whether he wants to continue at the end of each of the past 20 seasons, and that this year will be no different than any other.

The Johnnies are struggling on the field this year with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses. All of those losses have come in MIAC conference play.
