MINNEAPOLIS - The search is on for two suspects who shot a limo driver in South Minneapolis late Friday night.
That limo driver was home Saturday afternoon resting after a trip to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police say he was shot in the chest during an attempted carjacking.
The driver told KARE 11 he was doing ok but didn't want to discuss it further or be interviewed on camera.
The shooting happened Friday night around 10:45 p.m.
Police found the injured driver in his limo at the intersection of East 26th Street and Stevens Avenue. But Sgt. William Palmer with Minneapolis Police said the victim was actually shot a couple blocks away, near 27th and 2nd Avenue South by a pair of suspects he had picked up earlier. Police could not say where the suspects were picked up.
When the suspects tried to carjack him, police said the victim refused to cooperate. That's when the suspects shot him and ran off.
Police didn't go on camera on Saturday.
John Scarr, who lives in that neighborhood wasn't shocked by the crime. He said, "I'm not surprised. There are a lot of drugs coming out of the buildings around here, got people walking up and down all night."
Scarr said there are also a lot of great people living there too and police do patrol the area often.
Police believe the limo is privately owned, not part of a larger company.
Police are looking for two suspects. If you have any information on this crime, call 612-692-TIPS
