GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Bill Nye the Science Guy knows a bit about getting students excited about learning, and he is lending some of that expertise to teachers in Minnesota and around the country to help them engage students in and outside the classroom.
Mr. Nye, who is partnering with Minneapolis-based SOPHIA.org, will lead a discussion with teachers on the flipped classroom - a new trend in teaching that replaces the traditional classroom lecture model with online tutorials that teachers create as homework.
It then allows teachers can use valuable class time to provide one-on-one assistance to students while they complete their assignments.
Nye is speaking on Oct 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Science Museum Auditorium.
