GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The Twin Cities Salvation Army wants to make sure kids stay warm this summer. They're ready to give away 7,000 coats on Thursday, Oct. 25 during its annual Coats for Kids distribution, the area's largest public coat giveaway.
That's a 2,000-coat increase over 2011, a jump that will allow the Army to distribute coats at 10 metro area locations - four more than last year.
The coats and other winter items will be distributed, while supplies last, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Salvation Army service centers in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids and Maplewood, plus Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan and the Buffalo Community Center in Buffalo.
For a detailed list of sites and eligibility requirements, visit their website or call the United Way at 651-291-0211. Families in need of coats are advised to come early.
