MINNEAPOLIS - Two people were discovered dead in a home on the north side of Minneapolis early Monday, and police are investigating it as an apparent double homicide.
Squads were dispatched to a home on the 1200 block of 10th Avenue North just before 4:30 a.m. on a reported stabbing. When officers arrived they found an adult female and a juvenile male deceased victims inside the residence.
While Minneapolis Police will not comment on a cause of death, someone inside the home reportedly asked a neighbor to call 911 and report a stabbing. Police spokesman Sergeant Steve McCarty says homicide investigators are currently working the case.
At this time there are no suspects in custody and police will not comment on whether they are looking for a known assailant. They do say that the greater public is not in danger.
The home where the murders took place is just feet from Bethune Elementary School and children arriving to begin their school day were faced with a scene filled with police cars and crime tape. One woman who spoke with KARE 11 was tearfully wondering whether she should leave her child at school with all the police activity going on.
Anyone who knows anything about the crime or who may be responsible is asked to call the Minneapolis Police Department's Tips Line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
