ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's hockey team is finally home after getting stranded on the East Coast because of superstorm Sandy.

"I'm super excited. We've been gone for six days now so we're ready to be back," said Alex Nelson, a Senior at SCSU upon arriving at MSP Wednesday afternoon. "These are probably clothes we've worn three or four times now so a little embarrassing but we'll do alright."

The Huskies played Providence College in Rhode Island last weekend, and then got stuck there as they waited for the storm to pass.

Luckily, their hotel never lost power.

"We were fortunate. We were on the edge of the storm. It's sad to see those pictures from New York and New Jersey right now," said SCSU coach Jeff Gliesen.

The 22 players and five staff members boarded a flight at Logan Airport in Boston Wednesday morning and arrived in Minneapolis Wednesday afternoon. They took a bus trip back to St. Cloud.
