Competing signs in marriage amendment debate

MINNEAPOLIS - The 18-month struggle over same-sex marriage in Minnesota is about to reach the finish line, and neither side is coasting.

A proposed constitutional amendment would define marriage as only between a man and a woman, a step beyond the state's existing law against gay marriage.

The main group fighting the gay marriage ban says they'll mobilize thousands of volunteers Tuesday to get their supporters to the polls. That includes Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, who will help out on three campus visits in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

The main group seeking the ban is touting a pair of final print ads touting support from some medical professionals and former DFL state lawmakers.

Some $16 million was raised and spent by the two sides.
