MENOMONIE, Wis. - Repair crews are dealing with thousands of dollars in damage after a deer crashed through a building on the University of Wisconsin-Stout (UWS) campus Wednesday afternoon.
A UWS spokesman says a dog was chasing the deer when it crashed through a large window at the Vocational Rehabilitation building shortly after 4 p.m.
The deer exited the building through the automatic doors on the south side of the building. Authorities tracked the deer as it ran in south through campus, but eventually lost the blood trail before they could locate the animal.
Damage is estimated at $5,500, including repair of the window and cleanup of blood left on the building's floor.
