SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Investigators believe a fire that gutted a wine and spirits store in Shakopee early Friday is the work of an arsonist.

Shakopee Fire Department investigators Corey Schneck says authorities are also exploring the possibility that the suspect may have been injured when he or she set the fire at Wine Styles in the South Bridge Crossing mall. They are asking the public to call authorities if anyone they know has new, unexplained burns on their body.

Fire crews were summoned to the mall around 3:00 a.m by an alarm company. When they arrived they found extensive damage to the Wine Styles beverage store, but no significant impact to the businesses on either side.

The sprinkler system was largely responsible for putting the fire out.

Shakopee's fire chief immediately said there were signs of an explosion inside the shop.

A reward of up to $2500 is being offered by the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). Anyone with information is asked to call the IAAI at 1-800-723-2020 or Shakopee Police at 952-233-9400.
