INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. - The commander of Minnesota's famed "Red Bulls" spoke at the official State of Minnesota Veterans Day program Sunday.
Maj. Gen. David Elicerio commanded 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard's 34th Infantry "Red Bull" Division through their 22-month deployment in Iraq.
Other speakers included Gov. Mark Dayton, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, and U.S. Reps. Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison.
The event was held at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected the Veterans Memorial Community Center as an official regional site for the 2012 observance.
