MANKATO, Minn. - A Mankato man is suing to get cash seized during a drug raid returned to him.
Officers of the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force confiscated more than $9,000 in cash found stuffed in a jar during a September drug raid. No charges have been filed against any of the individuals named in affidavits for the search.
Steven James Eshleman says the cash belongs to him. He's not accused of wrongdoing and is not named in any court documents related to the raid.
Eshleman is suing Blue Earth County claiming the cash was seized through an illegal search. The Free Press says Eshleman's civil lawsuit can't more forward until any criminal case is resolved. His attorney, Thomas Hagen, declined to comment until then.
