ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Red Bull Crashed Ice race is sliding back to St. Paul this winter.

The race will be on Jan. 24-26 and the track will once again begin near the Cathedral of St. Paul.

Daring athletes from around the world will compete on the twisting, four-story ice track.

But this year, the course is higher and 1,300 feet longer.

The 2nd annual race is at same time as the Winter Carnival.

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman told KARE 11 during a live interview, this is a big deal financially for the city, along with showing off St. Paul to an international audience.

Last year, the event brought in an estimated $20-million to the city.

The race will be the same weekend as the Winter Carnival, and although Crashed Ice is not associated with the festival, Coleman says he hopes to make this a permanent event.
