MINNEAPOLIS - The morning horizon of north Minneapolis is filled with thick black smoke Friday as large mounds of shredded tires burn at a recycling facility.
Crews were called to River Services, Inc., 3750 Washington Avenue North just after 3 a.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene huge flames were seen leaping into the sky.
The rubber piles are far enough away from buildings that no damage has been reported.
Those on the scene say the fire has been brought under control but the piles continue to smolder, creating smoke and strong odors.
