BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Mall of America is making changes to its parental escort policy for the holidays following a chair-throwing brawl last year.
On November 22nd and 23rd, kids under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older during mall hours. Normally, the parental escort policy is in effect from 4 p.m. to close on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Mall of America is also implementing parental escort hours from December 26th to December 31st. Mall officials say anyone 21 or younger should be prepared to show a vaild photo ID.
A fight involving at least 20 youth erupted in the north food court the day after Christmas in 2011. Nobody was seriously injured but nine people were arrested for disorderly conduct.
