MINNEAPOLIS -- The Gopher football team's leading wide receiver A.J. Barker says on his Twitter page that he has quit the team.
Barker posted today at just before 4pm, "Well, its official. I am done playing football for the University of Minnesota and I will be looking to transfer next season for my final year."
Barker proceeded to then publish a 4,000 word letter on his Tumblr account with an explanation as to why he was doing so -- a letter that makes some very serious accusations and suggestions about head coach Jerry Kill.
We have reached out to Barker as well as the Gopher football program. Currently neither side has commented.

On Sunday night, U of M athletic director Norwood Teague released a statement which reads: "Coach Kill received an email from A.J. Barker today notifying the Coach that he has quit the team. Coach Kill tried reaching out to A.J. after receiving the email, but was unable to connect with him. We understand A.J.'s frustration with his injury, and we regret that he has chosen to leave the team on these terms. Our concern first and foremost is student athletes and we wish A.J. well."
