ST. PAUL, Minn. - The numbers are undeniable. When Glenn Caruso was hired at St. Thomas, he inherited a 2-8 football team. Since that time, the program has rattled off 54 wins in just 5 seasons.
Caruso has been awarded 2 consecutive National Coach of the Year honors, and currently, they are enjoying a streak of 34 straight conference wins.
The Tommies have already roared into the second round of this years NCAA playoffs, and they appear to be poised to make a deep postseason run.
Behind the scenes Caruso is unabashedly a family man first. His wife and three children support him every step of the way, and Caruso makes time to drive the kids to school every morning and on the day we visited him, even attended a PTO meeting in the evening.
In between those times at home, he is immersed in the game of football. An admitted type A personality, Caruso has his entire day scheduled out. he and his staff work meticulously to fine tune the game plan until its taut and streamlined.
He studies game and practice film many times a day, going over every aspect of Tommie football.
It's a work ethic he credits to his parents. And one that he now fosters to the kids he mentors and coaches on a daily basis.
