MINNEAPOLIS - Target is doing it again. The retailer has come up with yet another partnership to get shoppers in the stores.
Target and Neiman Marcus are combining forces to offer some 50 holiday gift items by 24 U.S. designers.
"We do see a lot of people getting excited. The designers that they're never really able to get their hands on, and now we actually have them in a Target store, which I think is really exciting for our guests,"says Kelly Sunder, Target Executive Team Leader.
They're selling everything from a bike to a Marc Jacobs scarf and many items are under $60.
"I found a lunchbox I want. It's a cute lunchbox, which is hard to find, cause their all so plastic and gross, but this one is cute and got cute little designs on it so I'm excited about it," says Kate Johnson who has already looked at the items up for grabs online.
Target has seen success in the past by teaming up with popular designers, but this partnership is different. This is the first time the retailer has joined forces with another retailer.
"I think the Neiman Marcus Target partnership is absolutely brilliant. This is an epic move in fashion," says Professor John Marinovich with Carlson School of Management.
Marinovich says it pushes Target forward as fashion leader and it even has an upside for upscale Neiman Marcus.
"Let's say hypothetically Neiman Marcus has 1-million customers, and Target has 100-million customers, you now have 100-million customers who know about Neiman Marcus. They can't buy adverstising like that," he says.
Stores will open Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and you can purchase the items at either company or online. They are expecting some big lines similar to Black Friday.
"I think we're believed to sell out on the first day. Especially of some of those really hot items."
