ROSEVILLE, Minn. --
Editor's Note: We are sorry to report that Dick Willis has passed away at the age of 93. In honor of his life we are sharing "The Bluebird Man's" story with KARE viewers again. The original story aired June 10, 2011.
KARE 11's Boyd Huppert takes us to the parking lot of the Roseville School District to meet "The Bluebird Man" Dick Willis.
Dick loves birds and is now landlord to nine birdhouses on the property.
But he has an amazing love-affair with the bluebird and Boyd tells us how Dick actually waited six years for a bluebird to show up in one of his houses. Yes, six years.
Dick goes to the houses everyday, twice a day to feed his birds.
He calls himself both mother and father to the birds.
People watch him pull up in his car and say the birds know it's Dick coming to feed them.
Dick even keeps a log book of every significant event in the birds' lives.
May we all be so blessed as the bluebirds.
