BLAINE, MInn --The smile never left the face of Blaine senior Elizabeth Richards, as she worked her way through a jumbled mass of teens, each working as either a 'buyer' or a 'seller', in a project for their economics class.
"Hey Mitch, would you be willing to buy wheat from me for $9-dollars a bushel?", asked Elizabeth. Said Mitch, "Ah, that seems a little high."
Elizabeth seemed incapable of striking a deal at somebody else's expense, leaving a future in sales somewhat in doubt. Good thing Elizabeth Richards has no intention of working in sales.
"I'm interested in genetics and hearts so, I think I might do something with that", said Elizabeth. "I need to be working somewhere with people, and my interests are best applied somewhere in the medical field."
The daughter of two educators, Elizabeth is member of FCA, a 4-year academic letter winner with a 4.0 GPA, Student Council President, and Copy Editor for the yearbook. Elizabeth strives to be as involved as possible in her school, because she says, doing anything less would be letting other people down.
"Being a good student is my top priority", says Elizabeth. "But, I also want to make my fellow BHS members proud of me so, it's a pretty big responsibility, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else."
Elizabeth plans to attend the University of Minnesota in Rochester, where she plans to pursue a bachelor of science degree in health sciences, with a long-range goal of working in the medical field. Medical sales? Maybe not.
