My adventure back into the life of a student continues. Many assignments, two exams and one semester down - not sure how many more to go. I've learned about res ispa loquitor and the doctrine of promissory estoppel. My professors are true professionals who have taught me so much already, even though it's been like learning a new language at times. I officially have 2 law school credits on my transcript. I need 80 or so to graduate. The road will be a long one :) People complain about not having enough time to get stuff done and about not having balance in their lives. I thought I would do the same when I started the part time law program at William Mitchell last summer. What I found is that I LOVE being busy and that both my life as a journalist and as a law student are truly complementing each other. The very wise Dean of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at William Mitchell told me when I started that when he went to law school he found an inherent balance in working full time and going to class. He was right! It's funny because I thought that I would really enjoy the break from class over the holidays. All I had to do for four weeks was 'just' go to work. It WAS nice to step back and breathe a little, but I found myself losing focus. I decided that chasing the prize and then the next one keeps me going! Yah. It's busy. And sometimes the commute from Golden Valley to St. Paul during evening rush hour can get pretty hairy. But it's working out so far.
