I went to the doctor yesterday for my daughter only to find out that this time she has pharyngitis. Now, keep in mind that this is about the fifth time she's been sick in the last seven weeks so it's starting to become worrisome to me.

As a first-time parent, I'm beginning to wonder if my daughter's pediatrician thinks I'm crazy! I think I've visited his office at least five times in the last seven weeks, and none of those have been for routine check-ups!

Then, it always makes me wonder if my daughter is getting so sick because I'm being a bad parent. I realize that sounds totally absurd and dumb but I can't help it. It's hard for me to watch her suffer.

Plus, every single time I go to the doctor, they tell me her illness is "viral," which means there is nothing they can give her to make her feel better. She always has to wait it out. I'm starting to wonder whether she will ever not have a "viral" illness. Again, I think I'm just noticing it because she has yet to have any bacterial illness yet.

Should I clean the house more than I already do? Should I keep her in the house at all times so she doesn't pick up something from someone else, or worse, give it to someone else? These are the things that I just don't know as a first time mommy.

In the end, she usually is just fine within a couple of sleepness nights but the toll it takes on me is so enormous that I'm just praying the next illness won't come for a few weeks. As it is right now, I think my daughter has only gone one whole week without some sort of ailment!! She just needs a break and so do I!
