ST. PAUL, Minn--At the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, the political animals are pacing the halls and legislative chambers. Budget deficit birds of prey are perched in the trees overlooking the fields where the donkeys and elephants have been planting the seeds of legislation.
Meanwhile, the people wait for the crops to grow so they can participate in harvesting the bounty which may not be as large as they anticipated, or perhaps their baskets will not be filled at all. These are uncertain times and there are few smiles on the faces of those who journey to the domed building that Cass Gilbert designed so long ago.
In this politically charged atmosphere, one day was made especially memorable because of some visitors who stopped by for a short stay at the People's house.
