Car KARE Tip: Cold air, low tire pressure

Falling temps can mean deflating tires. Check the pressure before the warning light comes on.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.- This week's Car KARE Tip is about the cold weather and its impact on your tires.

When the temperature drops, you may notice your tire pressure drops as well. According to Consumer Reports, colder temperatures will cause tire pressure to drop about 1 PSI for every 10 degree drop in air temperature.

A good rule to follow is to check tire pressure frequently especially during the Fall when we go from hot days to cold days. Don't wait for the tire pressure warning light to come on.
