Chetek Tornado: How to help

More storms hit Chetek as cleanup begins

CHETEK, Wis. - As cleanup and recovery begins following the Chetek, Wisconsin tornado, many are wondering how they can help.

The city says much of the volunteer cleanup effort will begin Friday morning. Volunteers can meet at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron (Hwy 8 and 53) starting Friday at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and again on Saturday and Sunday. Find more information here.

Salvation Army monetary donations for Chetek can be made by texting "Chetek" to 41444, by phone at 800-264-6412 or by mail at The Salvation Army, PO BOX 8, Rice Lake, WI 54868. Make checks payable to The Salvation Army with memo line: Chetek Tornado.

The Red Cross is taking monetary donations at Mosaic in Cameron or through their website.

The city says other relief funds are in progress. It has not been notified of verified GoFundMe accounts related to the cause so they do stress caution donating to them.
