Child found safe after Amber Alert

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - A 7-month-old boy is safe after authorities say a 19-year-old suspect took the child in a stolen vehicle.

An Amber Alert was issued Friday evening for the child. The City of Bloomington says just after 7 p.m. Friday, state troopers picked up a woman who said her 7-month-old child and vehicle had been taken from her after an altercation near I-35W and 98th Street.

The victim knew the 19-year-old female suspect, who had asked for a ride to Savage. According to the BCA, the two women got into a verbal argument in the car and the suspect made threats of violence.

The child's mother, who was driving, pulled over. Then the BCA says the passenger allegedly got out, pulled the driver out of the car by her hair and left her on the side of the road, leaving with the child.

The mother told authorities that the suspect told her she would never see her child again, before driving off.

At 10 p.m., Bloomington authorities say the suspect was taken into custody in Burnsville, after the vehicle had been located. The child was recovered from the scene and reunited with his mother.

The investigation is still active. Two people were questioned at the scene and released. They have not been charged.
