ST. PAUL, Minn. - There is a heavy police presence on a residential block in St. Paul as officers carry out what they are calling a "death investigation."
Squads were dispatched to the 1200 block of Galtier Street North around 4:00 a.m. on reports of a robbery. When officers arrived they found a male victim with critical injuries. He was soon declared dead on the scene.
Witnesses described seeing an assailant running from the scene. He is described as a black male in his 20s, with a medium complexion and thin build. The suspect was wearing dark clothing, and officers were told he had a high-pitched voice.
A source originally told KARE 11 that the victim died of a gunshot wound, but St. Paul Police are not yet confirming that. They do say that the victim is not from the neighborhood.
Anyone who knows anything about the crime or who may be responsible is asked to call the St. Paul Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
