Police investigate suspicious teen death in Woodbury

WOODBURY, Minn. - Police are investigating the suspicious death of a teenage girl in Woodbury.

Police spokesperson Michelle Okada says police responded to a 911 call on the 3000 Block of Common Wealth Avenue around 9:10 a.m. Saturday, January 11 on reports of an unresponsive juvenile female. The girl was transported to Regions Hospital where she died a short time later.

Multiple sources have identified the girl as 17-year-old Tara Fitzgerald. Her family described her in an obituary as a talented artist and musician.

Investigators arrested three people - one adult and two teens - for probable cause third degree murder but all were later released pending further investigation. A reliable source tells KARE 11 that the teen's death is being investigated as a drug case, and that prosecutors are trying to decide whether charges will be filed.
