ST. PAUL, Minn, - School will be decidedly 'Old School' in St, Paul Monday, as the public school district is operating without phone service or internet technology that powers just about everything these days.
St. Paul Public Schools spokesperson Toya Stewart Downey says she was notified about 6:20 a.m. Monday that phone and internet service was down for virtually the entire district. After discussions between disitrict officials it was decided that school would go on as normal as possible, even though internet service and apps used by staff were not available.
Stewart says the biggest challenge is that parents can't get through to schools to report a child's absence or check on other issues.
At this point the district's technology team is confident the outage is not related to the ransomware program that is sweeping the globe. Estimated time for getting things back on line is noon, but that could change.
