Bright color trend for spring fashion

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn --  Now that spring has officially arrived, it's time to add some to your wardrobe. Designer  Bridget Connell from BCDesigns appeared on KARE News@4 to talk about current trends for 2011.

Colors:
Spring is the time to have FUN with color. The most popular colors right now are: Tangerine, Fuchsia, Cobalt, Chartreuse and Turquoise. Wear them alone or mixed together, it is the time to rock the color.

Bright tops are fabulous paired with neutral bottoms - a crisp pair of white jeans, light gray pants, light colored linen bottoms.

Handbags, shoes and jewelry do not have to match, have fun mixing some complimentary bright colors in different accessories.

Some If your clothing is more of a neutral palette, bring some patterns in these bright colors in florals, stripes and paisleys along with mixing different colors for a bright and happy outfit.

Patent leather in brights is a fantastic option as the color will be shiny and bold. Patent is a perfect material for Minnesotans in the spring as it is water resistant when you are sloshing through the city.

Floral Patterns
When flowers bloom in our gardens, we cannot help but want to bring these beautiful blooms into our wardrobe. And lucky for all of us, floral patterns are huge this spring.

Generally, the larger the print, the easier it is to wear.
Some smaller prints can get lost in an outfit and become to look dated if not in the correct pattern.
Go for big, bold and abstract floral patterns in bright colors.
Have fun and embrace being a woman this season!

Stripes
Stripes can be a fabulous addition to your spring wardrobe. What is great about stripes is that they can go in several directions.
You can take on a nautical look if you keep the stripes simple and clean and stick to a white or cream color paired with navy, red or black. Stick with classic accessories such as a patent red handbag, layered pearls or a classic wedge sandal.

Stripes can take on an edgier look if you partner with other patterns.

If you do choose to partner stripes with another pattern, try to stick to either patterns in the same tone as the stripe or pick a more feminine pattern (like a paisley or floral pattern) that includes tones in the stripe pattern.

Metallic accessories are a good fit for this look. Think of a great pewter slide or a fun chain necklace. Wider stripes are little easier to wear for any body type. Stripes in varying sizes in a piece are fantastic too.

Neutrals
You can never go wrong with a crisp white, cream, light grey or tan. They look fabulous together and can be accessorized very easily.

Neutrals are great if you can add some dimension by adding tonal patterns or by combining different textures such as combining chiffon with poplin or layering lace over cotton.
If you lean towards a more neutral toned outfit, have fun with the accessories!

Pair your look with brightly colored handbags, shoes or jewelry. Or add a fun, patterned scarf or belt. Floral scarves are great for a fun, feminine touch to an outfit.

Another more glamorous look can be to add some great metallic accessories to the look. Slip into some metallic sandals or layer some great metallic jewelry for a classic and chic look.
