GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Here's some motivation to stand up for your health. Many of us sit in front of a computer all day long. That sedentary lifestyle can lead to negative health consequences. However, standing could make a huge difference.

A new study conducted with HealthPartners showed that many employees don't want to simply sit. 87 percent of those who both stood and sat said they were more comfortable with the ability to stand; 76 percent said they felt more energized; 75 percent felt healthier; 71 percent felt more focused; 66 percent felt more productive; 62 percent felt happier and there was a 50 percent reduction in back and neck pain.

In addition, 75 percent of participants with the adjustable desk stood for more than an hour a day, burning additional calories than those who just sat. In the end, every member who had the adjustable desk option reported feeling better because of ability to sit and stand.

In many cases previously, cost was a barrier to providing employees the option of standing. Because many stand desks or adjustable desks cost more than $1,000.

This study was conducted with Ergotron's Sit-Stand Workstation, which transforms any surface into a standing desk at a price that starts at less than $400.
