Looking to plan your social calendar for the week? Or just curious about cool stuff happening in the Twin Cities? Each week we'll highlight a few of the many fun events from the local entertainment scene worthy of a spot on your to-do list.
Kick off the start of the Movember by shaving it off...your facial hair, that is. November is officially men's health awareness month where fellas everywhere grow out their mustache, beard or goatee to bring awareness and raise money for the cause. Head to the Movember Shave-Off at the Nomad World Pub on Thursday at 6 p.m. for complimentary shaves from Winston's Barbershop, live music and drink specials. As the event description says, "Beards will be shed. Drinks will be had. And men will become manlier." Click here for more information.
Madonna Costume Party
This weekend the Material Girl herself will be performing two sold-out concerts at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday and Sunday. Before you head to the concert, get in a Madonna state of mind by heading to CAMP Bar on Friday night for a celebration of all things Madge. CAMP will host a Madonna costume contest, a dance party with DJs spinning tracks from her latest CD and prize giveaways - including two tickets to one of the shows at the Xcel. Proceeds from the night will benefit The Trevor Project. Click here for more information.
Twin Cities Sneaker.Art Xchange
Calling all sneaker lovers! If you're one who can't pass up a new pair of Jordan's or are on the market for some new art, be sure to check out the Twin Cities Sneaker.Art Xchange (TCSAX) on Sunday. Starting at 2 p.m., artists, musicians, designers and sneaker enthusiasts will converge at First Avenue to buy, sell and trade sneakers, art, music and more. Food trucks will be on hand as well as a full day of live music from a packed lineup of hip hop artists and DJs including Raekwon "The Chef" of the Wu-Tang Clan. The event is put on by Uptown sneaker, apparel and art boutique, Studiiyo23. Don't forget to bring an item for the event's clothing and blanket drive. Click here for more information.
