OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Minnesota Golden Gophers' wrestlers Tony Nelson was hoping to win his third straight NCAA Championship in the heavyweight division on Saturday, but instead he will have to settle for second place.
Nelson would have been the first Gopher to win three individual national titles.
He lost North Carolina's Nick Gwiazdowski.
Meanwhile, junior Dylan Ness was looking to cap off an impressive run in the 157-pound class. He was the No. 9 seed, but he had already upset the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds in the tournament.
Unfortunately, he lost to Oklahoma State's Alex Dieringer.
Overall, the Gophers finished in second place in the team title with 104 points. Penn State won its 4th straight team title with 109.5 points.
