Motivation Monday: Boosting collagen

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - You've heard the old saying, "you are what you eat." That old adage is especially true when it comes to collagen.

Collagen makes up about one-third of the protein in your body, making it the most common kind. It provides structural support, elasticity and cell renewal for your bones, muscles, tendons, skin, hair, and even fingernails.

However, as we age, collagen production begins to decline; it decreases by 25% by age 45, and by more than 50% by age 60. This is why you begin to notice signs of aging in your skin, like wrinkles and fine lines.
