MINNEAPOLIS --- Kidney disease is not one of the 'front burner' health topics on Americans' minds. However, kidney disease affects one out of every nine people.

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) says 26 million Americans have chronic kidney issues. The NKF says another 20 million Americans are at risk of developing kidney disease.

Kidney disease disproportionately affects the Native American, African American, Hispanic and Asian populations. With diabetes and high blood pressure cases on the rise, a deluge of new kidney disease diagnosis is on the horizon.

Help is on the way!

The National Kidney Foundation is sponsoring a series of free kidney health screenings. The campaign is called the Kidney Early Evaluation Program or KEEP for short.
