ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Good news for motorists having to navigate around the Highway 12 construction -- the Orono road will open a week ahead of schedule.
MnDOT officials say Highway 12 between Hennepin County Road 112 (Wayzata Boulevard West) in Long Lake and Hennepin County Road 6 in Orono will open on Friday, Oct. 28 instead of the following Friday.
MnDOT plans to open the eastbound lane of Highway 12 by 5 a.m. on Friday and the westbound lane by 3 p.m., as long as weather permits.
The highway has been closed since Oct. 17 while crews installed a concrete median barrier to address safety concerns.
“We would like to thank the residents of Long Lake and Orono for their support for the project and for their patience during the barrier installation,” stated Susan Youngs, Towards Zero Deaths regional coordinator in a press release. “The traveling public deserves our thanks as well.”
