Ideas to keep kids busy over MEA break

Finding things to do for kids over MEA weekend

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Parents, are you wondering what to do to keep your kids busy during the MEA break?

Explore Minnesota Director John Edman says it's all about embracing the season.

“Corn mazes, apple orchards and pumpkin patches all throughout the state of Minnesota,” Edman says.

If the kids are ramped up for Halloween, ValleyScare starts Thursday and runs all weekend at ValleyFair in Shakopee.

If you can't wait to hit the slopes, the Mall of America is holding the 9th annual Ski and Snowboard Expo Friday and Saturday in the rotunda. You can get deals on lift tickets and check out new equipment.

Twin Cities blogger Carrie Rocha has 18 MEA weekend ideas on her “Pocket Your Dollars” website.

Everything from Groupons for mini golf, to nine awesome waterfalls in the area and of course, culture. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is always free.
The coolest thing of all this weekend will likely be courtesy of mother nature.

Take a walk just about anywhere in the Twin Cities and you’ll see the fall colors at their peak.
