KARE 11 News Sunrise welcomes new anchor

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – KARE 11 News welcomes Cory Hepola as our new morning news anchor. Cory will anchor from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday along with current KARE 11 News Sunrise anchor Kim Insley.

Hepola, who is married with one child, is a Minnesota native who attended Concordia College. He comes back to the area from Houston where he most recently worked at Comscast Sportsnet as a sports anchor, host and reporter.

He has worked around the country for ABC, CBS and Fox affiliates winning "Best Sportscast" by the New York State Broadcaster's Association in 2010.

"Cory is a team player with a dynamic and energetic style for our morning audience," said News Director Jane Helmke. "He is a dedicated, creative journalist and hometown guy who can't wait to get started and contribute to his community."

"In our search for a morning anchor, we were fortunate to find someone with the commitment and passion that Cory brings to the table. We're extremely excited that he'll be a part of the award-winning KARE 11 family," said John Remes, KARE 11 President and General Manager.

Hepola will start with KARE 11 in mid-April.
