KARE 11 wins 2 National Murrow Awards

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - KARE 11 has won two National Edward R. Murrow Awards for 2017.  The Radio Television Digital News Association announced the winners on Tuesday.

The winning entries were for:

Excellence in Video: "Lost on the Lake" about kayak safety

Excellence in Writing: Boyd Huppert

This is Boyd Huppert's 15th National Murrow Award. Boyd produces and hosts KARE 11’s weekly “Land of 10,000 Stories” segment

The excellence in video award was given to the KARE 11 reporters, photographers and producers behind the kayak safety story: Stacey Nogy, Jen Young, Boyd Huppert, Rob Collett, Jeff Wiltgen, Chad Nelson and John Divall.

The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism. The winning stories are chosen because they put public interest as a guiding principle and help create public discussion.
