Kluwe to speak publicly on possible settlement

MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe and his attorney Craig Halunen will hold a news conference on Tuesday in regards to a possible settlement reached with the team.

Despite an official with the Vikings telling KARE 11 that there is no settlement with Kluwe over a planned lawsuit, Kluwe will talk with the media on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Kluwe threatened to sue the Vikings over the release of an internal report regarding alleged homophobic claims made by Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer, but he announced on Friday via Twitter that the two sides had reached a settment.

The Vikings suspended Priefer for three games and made a donation to gay advocacy group. Both punishments were less than Kluwe wanted. He also accused the team of cutting him over his activism in favor of gay marriage in Minnesota, a claim the team denied.
