1 dead after Wright County crash

OTSEGO, Minn. - One woman is dead following a 2-vehicle crash in Wright County Friday morning.

Wright County deputies were dispatched on reports of an accident on County Road 37 near Quaday Avenue Northeast in the City of Otsego just before 7:30. When they arrived they found that an SUV had crashed with a passenger vehicle and a 55-year-old woman was dead on the scene. Initial evidence gathered suggests that the victim's 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva was westbound on County Road 37 when the driver lost control, spun out on the snow-covered road and collided with a an eastbound 2008 Mercury Mountaineer driven by a 38-year-old Otsego woman.

Sheriff's officials say the woman who died was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the SUV and a 3 year old passenger were not injured.

The name of the deceased will be released later Friday after relatives are notified. The incident remains under investigation by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office and the Wright County Sheriff's Office.
