PARK RAPIDS, Minn. - Two people are dead following a fatal house fire in northern Minnesota Tuesday night.
Fire crews were dispatched on reports of a residential structure fire at 26897 Beltrami Line Road in Helga Township around 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival firefighters found the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses on the scene led authorities to believe there may have been two occupants in the residence at the time of the fire.
After the flames was extinguished authorities located the remains of two deceased individuals inside the home. The victims are believed to be a 79-year-old female and a 56-year-old male.
The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office says the victims' names are not being released until family is notified.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The incident is under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
The Bemidji, Cass Lake, and Lakeport Fire Departments, along with Bemidji Ambulance, Lakeport First Response, Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Beltrami County Emergency Management, State Fire Marshall, and the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office all responded to the incident.
