A Call to Coaches: Developing Young Men of Character

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- An event Friday in Minneapolis called "A Call to Coaches: Developing Young Men of Character," will bring together hundreds of youth recreation, middle school, high school and university coaches from Minnesota and the surrounding states for an educational program. Tony Porter, a co-founder of "A Call to Men" and a speaker at "A Call to Coaches," joined KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about the event. The half-day event will focus on increasing awareness among coaches and other men about the important role they play in developing and promoting healthy and respectful manhood in the lives of boys and young men. Topics of discussion include healthy and respectful relationships, developing men of character, domestic violence prevention and making your voice count together.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings and Minneapolis Public Schools Athletic Director Trent Tucker, who was a standout athlete at the University of Minnesota and NBA champion will be two of the panelists.

"A Call to Coaches" is Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
