Boxing fundraiser helps Mpls. police officer

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Police and Fire Departments really do get along, but on Saturday the two agencies clashed for a good cause.

In a show of compassion, the two hit the hit the boxing ring with their counterparts.

Money raised from the second annual "Unite Fight" event will go to the family of Minneapolis Police Officer Carlos Baires Escobar.

Escobar received a kidney transplant in January. The donor, a 20-year-old college student Sebastian Rivera, of Rogers, learned about the officer's plight on Facebook.

The pair did not know each other prior to Rivera's response.
