Crews rescue woman from old Minnesota mine pit

CHSIHOLM, Minn. - Crews have rescued a 29-year-old woman who apparently fell off a cliff of an old mine pit in Chisholm in northeast Minnesota.

The Hibbing Daily Tribune reports the woman fell about 100 feet down at about 3 p.m. on Monday.

Chisholm Police Chief Vern Manner says the victim was recovered around 4:30 p.m. and brought up the hill of the cliff. She was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Authorities say the woman suffered serious injuries.

The Hibbing and Virginia Fire Departments, St. Louis Co. Rescue Squad, Chisholm Police and the Minnesota State Patrol all assisted in the response.
