Dalai Lama visits Twin Cities, presides over Tibetan New Year

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Dalai Lama is in the Twin Cities and is taking part in several events this weekend.

On Saturday he delivered the keynote speech at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

He will also preside over the Tibetan New Year ceremony at Augsburg College on Sunday. This is the first time the spiritual leader will observe the new year, since exile, outside of India. The historic service, which will be delivered in the Tibetan language, is expected to draw more than 3,000 Tibetans living in the United States.

The Dalai Lama will also visit Macalester college where he will speak to students and give a speech about the nature of happiness, fulfillment and embodiment.
